Untitled Projects

Untitled Projects and the Citizens Theatre are seeking applications for a Main Stage Director Residency, which targets mid-career directors. The residency offers structured support in the transition from working in studio spaces to directing classic plays within a repertory system on a proscenium stage.

The residency aims to put in place advanced development opportunities for a director based in Scotland, with the aim of raising standards and expanding opportunities at home and abroad.

Offered half-time over 2 years, this paid opportunity will see the successful candidate direct a full production of a classic play on the Citizens Main Stage, programmed as part of the regular Citizens season.

Delivered in a unique partnership between Untitled Projects and the Citizens Theatre, the residency has been made possible by generous support from Creative Scotland’s Creative Futures Programme and the Jerwood Charitable Foundation.

The resident director will be supported and mentored throughout the process by Artistic Directors Stewart Laing of Untitled Projects and Dominic Hill of the Citizens Theatre.
